The DHCPv6 MAC source method, "link-local-address", will only succeed if the u-bit is 1 and the g-bit is 0 (see #3691). Currently there is no way for users to override this check and allow extraction from local addresses whose u-bit=0. One possibility would be to a new method, such as link-local-address-all or link-local-address-liberal, which would skip the u-bit check.

IMHO it is a better idea to hook the MAC address extraction than to give a gun to shoot in feet...
